Songbird 0.5 Released

Still very much in development, Songbird 0.5 has been released. For those who’ve never heard of Songbird it’s a media player and web browser rolled into one. It’s built off Firefox with full iPod/iTunes library support (as well as several other media devices) and with an ever expanding list of add-ons it’s truly customizable. It’s not quite stable enough to support by 10,000 song collection on my PC but it handles my 1,500-strong music library on my Macbook as good as iTunes does and I love how it automatically ’scans’ pages for MP3 links which can be downloaded and added to the library.

Songbird is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and it’s throughly worth a test run, though it may take a few more releases before it permanently replaces my iTunes and Safari combo.
